Driving north on I-81 in Virginia, I had my son look for roadside oddities we could visit on my iPhone. I use an app called "Best Road Trip Ever" (which I can personally recommend to people who travel by car a lot). It's an app that has marked on a map places you don't see everyday; the strange, odd or peculiar. Or in this case, an old ice cream and burger drive in that's been in business since 1952.
The sign says it was voted one of the 10 best drive ins in the nation, but I don't know by who, but what I do know is you don't see places like this very often any more. You can drive up to the menu and eat in your car, if that's what you want. My son and I only stopped for a ice cream cone. What we didn't know until pulling off I-81 is that Staunton, Virginia is also the birthplace and home of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library, less than a mile from Wright's Dairy-Rite.
